UPDATE JANUARY 2010 -2009 held many ups and downs.......let's just say I'm looking forward to a much improved 2010. In 2009 I had volunteered at the County animal shelter on Saturdays. I decided to foster a dog; well you dog people know what that means…….I was a failure. I adoptepted that sweet dog. Nina is a Beagle/Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. You'll see some pics of her in the picture section around page 8, a beautiful brown/black girl. That sweet girl and I bonded immediately and she did great in our home with all the dogs (except Dixie the Shepherd who hates all female dogs). Okay, so Nina did great for about 2 weeks then decided she wanted to be alpha and she also didn't like other female dogs and that did not go well with my Crested girls. So, sadly, I had to rehome Nina. She's very happy in her new home, which is right down the road from me, and I get to visit as often as I like. There's no denying our bond, but also no denying the fact that she's thrilled with the two very large dogs with which she shares a home. You have also probably noticed a little fuzzy dog in some of the pictures. Remember him? Valentino? He's back and he's back for good this time - go see his section on the dog page - yes, Val now has his own page. More to read below...
Hi, my name is Cathy and I am owned by a German Shepherd, 6 Chinese Cresteds and 2 cats. I treat my animals as if they were children, they treat me as if I were a God.
At one time, I attempted to volunteer with a rescue group by the name of Doodle Dawgs. Please visit their site at www.doodledawgs.petfinder.com. My family grew so quickly, I found it hard to keep up with Doodle Dawgs but I have recently found some time to volunteer, once a week, at my local animal shelter in their adoption center. Also, should you be interested in adopting a Chinese Crested, please visit www.crest-care.net, a non-profit rescue organization which is where I found my Sampson and Tiki.
When I was a child, I begged my dad for a dog, but he always said "no." So, I ended up growing up with cats, which I adored. One of my "when I'm an adult" dreams was to have a house full of dogs and cats. And here I am today to share with you a little bit of my life with my DGZnCTZ. I hope you enjoy my site and if you have any questions or advice, please drop me an email at cathy@dgznctz.com
